ISMs

I haven't posted for a while because my children are still being posessed and I am at a loss for what to say about that. I have a post that is an unfinished work in progress which I can hopefully soon publish. In the meantime, here are some isms of late.

Mr. Yuke(4): I have erasers between my toes.
Me: Erasers?
Mr Yuke(4): Yes. Look. It's like erasers. (Shows me toe-jam.)

Monster Truck(2), removing wet pull-up: Yookit dis. Dis is wet. SMELL IT. (Only boys, I swear.)

Bubba(7) whose last doctor appointment was several months ago, CRYING: I don't WANT to get a shot!
Me: What are you talking about?
Bubba(7): I don't WANT to get a shot?
Me: You're not going to get a shot. You don't have an appointment.
Bubba(7): I know. But SOMEDAY.

My girls have not been very funny. Little Mommy(9) I think, has (sadly) grown out of the funny stage and has not yet grown into her teen-angst-driven-humor years. I await that with eager anticipation. And dread. More dread I think. Here is one of her greatest hits though:

Little Mommy(3): What's that? Are we having soup?
Me: No, it's stew.
Little Mommy(3): What's stew?
Me: It's kind of like soup, but thicker.
DogMom: Oh, good! Brochen!
Grampa: Hey! Brochen!
ArtisticallySpecificTastes: We're having brochen? I love brochen!
Little Mommy(3) indignant that all these grown-ups are so stupid: It's not BUTT-CHOSEN! It's STEWP!

Hang in there, it will get better. And I think you should rent out Annie as a mommy's helper in the afternoon. Think how much she would appreciate you and the extra cash!

Oh, wow! I finally exist in your world ("I'm somebody now!"). But, honestly, that's the best name you could come up with for me?! Speaking of strange appellations, for the sake of clarification, it should be noted that Brochen (spelled Brötchen in German--yes, that's a umlaut)are hard rolls (bread), and not what we were calling the stewp. Don't I sound like a know it all? Now imagine me typing this with a dish towel tied around my head (I was bored, & it was in my hands, so I had to do something creative with it). And this, my dear blogger, is the family you married into. ((evil laughter))

Not quite the Bradys said...

Well, I didn't want to call you "DeafGirl" and if I put something particularly complimentary, I thought that if your big sister ever reads this (which I doubt) then she might get her feelings hurt since "DogMom" was the best I could come up with for her. I think you do have artistically specific tastes but I mean it in a good way. Admit it, you are picky. You like things that are pretty and JUST SO. (Me too! :) )

I don't know how to type an umlaut on the computer.

Thank you for clearing that up. BroTchen was being served with the stew.

I actually do read your blog. Started reading it after I saw you at the funeral. I think you are very talented and your blog is extremely cleaver. Have no fear, my feelings are still intact. I'll take the name DogMom. It's more creative than I come up with myself. You should see my gamertag. Very unoriginal.

By the way, I'm not as fragile as you seem to think I am. :)

Love ya, DogMom
